AUTHORITY:

  • Authorized to stop or interrupt an unsafe activities that can lead to harm him/herself, colleges, company properties, business, operation and environment.
  • Authorized to react appropriately in respond to emergency alarm as per guidance on rig Emergency Respond Plan.
  • Authorized to rectify and unsafe condition. If he/she does not have the expertise to correct the condition; he/she must report it to supervisor promptly.
  • Authorized to operate radio equipment in order to communicate with ships, aircraft/helicopter, rig crews, offshore oil rigs, supply vessels and other remote operations.

DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY: 

  • Awareness of the HSE and QMS management system policies and programs and comply by applying them always.
  • Participate, contribute and utilise the safety tools described in HSE Manual for Planning, Risk Assessing, Monitoring and Improvement processes, HSE Meetings that will promote a safer work place
  • Incorporate the KSDR Planning Process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
  • Perform their duties and conduct themselves in line with the Core Values of the Company
  • Report all incidents, injuries or equipment damage to supervisor promptly.
  • Mentor co-workers to help them improve their HSE performance.
  • Operate all communication equipment in the radio room, receive and transmit messages between rig and shore bases, supply vessels, helicopters, and other stations by radio-telephone
  • Monitor emergency frequencies in order to detect distress calls and respond by dispatching emergency equipment.
  • Maintain a radio watch on maritime and aeronautical emergency frequencies.
  • Maintain records/logs of all radio communications to and from the rig. Keep records of telephone charges from the installation (if applicable).
  • Function test the standby radio equipment SARTS and EPIRB’s and the radio equipment in the lifeboats as required by rig maintenance system. These tests to include checking of the radio room batteries.
  • Advise the OIM and Barge Engineer of any emergency situations within the vicinity of the installation.
  • Inform the Helicopter Landing Officer and control room of all intended helicopter traffic to the rig.
  • Establish and maintain radio contact with helicopter traffic to and from the rig. Advise pilots of landing clearances, meteorological conditions, etc and record in the helicopter movement log.
  • Coordinate and control the isolation of radio equipment during periods of radio silence.
  • Assist with the embarkation and disembarkation of all passengers and briefings as required.
  • Assist in maintaining update POB record on board all time.
  • Assist the RSTC with the tracking of START cards on a daily basis.
  • Perform clerical and other duties as instructed by OIM or barge Engineer
  • Meet the training requirements according to the applicable training matrix.
  • Participate fully in the annual performance appraisal process,

 ACCOUNTABILITY: 

  • Accountable for the effectiveness and the safe processes associated with his/her position duties and responsibilities.
  • Accountable to understand responsibilities and authority levels as describe in the job description.
  • Accountable to ensure rig communication equipment in Radio Room are well maintained and operational.
  • Accountable to ensure crew list or personnel on board list update all the time.

EDUCATION 

  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent. Work experience and demonstrated ability of oral and written communications may be substituted in lieu of formal education.
  • Possess Marine Radiotelephone or equivalent certificate
  • Possess GMDSS General Operator License

EXPERIENCE 

  • 1 to 2 years’ experience as Radio/GMDSS Operator shipping industry.

BASIC SKILLs                                                                                                   

  • Awareness of HSE Management systems.
  • Plan and do routine & non-routine activity always considering safety aspects and its risk.
  • Knowledge of appropriate basic safe work practices and safety rules at rig environment.
  • Team Player and able to work under pressure.
  • Good in communication, work well in team or independent
  • Sufficient in English skills
  • Basic computer operation
